Your brain needs to celebrate. Here's why...

Recognising micro milestones

We often focus on the big goals, the major projects, the finish lines in the distance. While those are absolutely important, they are made up of multiple small steps, aka micro milestones.

Set micro milestones. Identify the tasks you need to achieve this week that are stepping stones to a bigger goal. Choose ones that typically require more effort than regular tasks.

Some examples can be:

  • Sending out a tricky follow-up email
  • Writing a first draft of a piece of content
  • Completing one course module
  • Reading one chapter of that non-fiction book you started a while ago

Recognise the achievement by writing down 3 sentences:

  1. What you’ve completed
  2. How concluding ot helped you
  3. How you felt after finishing it

It will only take a few minutes, but it will help you recognise your progress and motivate you for the next time you need to tackle a similar task.

Reward yourself. It doesn't need to be big or costly. The goal is to create positive reinforcement for completing specific tasks and make the process feel less like a relentless push and more like a series of achievable (and rewarding) steps.

By celebrating micro milestones, you train your brain to appreciate your progress —a simple but effective trick for boosting your mood and motivation.

Want some accountability? Reply to this email and share your weekly goal with me today, and I'll check in with you on Friday.
