Happy Monday 2025-37: Close Circle

Welcome to Happy Monday. Every Monday, I share a selection of curated content to brighten your day and an action item to motivate you for the week.

Here's what I have for you today...

For your eyes (and ears, but mainly for your eyes)

I love OK Go music videos for their creativity and invention. Each video is carefully planned and choreographed, requiring synchronisation to the millisecond from numerous people, dogs and robots involved. The collaboration and teamwork demonstrated are also inspiring.

They are also super fun to watch, and most of those videos show or give a hint of what’s happening behind the scenes. But when that’s not clear enough, they share a making-of video. And that’s the case for “Love”. Made possible with 29 robots, 63 mirrors, almost 100 people, and 39 attempts to capture one perfect continuous shot.

Watch the music video first, then the behind-the-scenes video, and finally the music video again to appreciate the work.

You won’t be disappointed, promise.

For your comms

Recently, I came across an app that felt like the ideal antidote to the noise of social media and all its algorithms.

Letter Club is a collaborative newsletter platform where you and your hand-picked friends are the writers and readers. It’s a way to share updates with your close circle (recommendations, business updates, or just life stuff) away from the endless scroll.

Good to know:

  • Letter Club is free to use.
  • You can have multiple letter clubs and invite up to six collaborators to each club.
  • You can set a new prompt for each issue if you'd like to keep content on topic.
  • Members contribute to the content when they're inspired, and the newsletter goes out with all contributions on the scheduled date.

For your mind

“The quality of your allies plays a massive role in determining whether you succeed or fail. The right people help you overcome challenges, and their presence makes the journey worthwhile.” — Yu-Kai Chou

Who are your allies?

As Yu-Kai Chou says, allies make or break your business. But have you ever thought about who your allies are?

This week, grab a notebook or open a new page in Notion, and take 15 minutes to consider the people in your professional circle:

  1. Make a list of 3-5 people who have been your most important professional supporters in the last 12 months. For each name, write one thing you can do to support them.
  2. Make a second list of 3-5 people whom you’d like to collaborate with or get support from in the next 12 months. Think of people with the skills or the network you need. For each name, write one thing you can do for or with them.
  3. Pick one name from each list (one existing and one potential ally) and act on the thing you wrote next to their name in the next month.

By consciously thinking about how you can give back, you naturally strengthen existing bonds and create new ones. That’s when professional networking gets fun. Let me know how it goes.
