Notion Charts • Changes • Free Support

Hi Reader,

It’s been a while since I last wrote to you. I’ve been taking the summer a bit slow while making some changes to my brand and related activities —so many updates are on the way, and I’ll share more on these changes as they take shape.

But first, let's talk about Notion's latest feature...

Visualise your data with charts

Yesterday, Notion launched a new feature that millions of users were craving for: Charts.

It is essentially a database view that you can add to any database. Like creating linked database views, you can add charts to any page in your Notion workspace, displaying visual data from multiple databases on a single page.

You can use charts to:

  • Display tasks by status or task distribution across the team members
  • Visualise the time you spent on task/activity categories during the week or month
  • See your content distribution across platforms
  • Get insights on expense or income categories
  • Track your fitness performance or workout sessions

There are so many use cases for charts! And they come with very handy features to allow you to customise how you display your data. With Notion’s charts, you can:

  • Filter pages and add sorting as you can do in other database views
  • Select bar, line, or pie chart
  • Add labels to your data to get more insights at a glance
  • Display cumulative data (or not)
  • Omit zero values (or not)
  • Change colour palette
  • Save charts as PNG or SVG

More features are on the way, such as multiple X-axis properties for line charts and page insights on click.

Just a heads up, though. If you’re on a free account, you can only have one chart. This restriction applies to templates as well. If you duplicate a template with multiple charts and you don’t have any charts in your workspace, you can view one chart in the template. The rest will be hidden until you upgrade. If you already have a chart in your workspace, all template charts will be hidden. If you upgrade, you’ll be able to see them.

The changes we desire require taking risks.

“That risk you’re afraid to take could be the one that changes your entire life.” — Steven Bartlett

One of the changes I mentioned at the start of this email is a new YouTube channel to showcase creative solutions in various areas, all created by talented freelancers. I’ll email you as soon as the first video goes live.

I’m super excited but also a little bit nervous. My inner voice goes wild! Lots of things can go wrong, and I may fail horribly. But that’s a risk I’m willing to take. Because whatever happens in the end, I know that I will enjoy the process.

You’re invited!

Are you a solopreneur or creative agency owner? What if I told you there is a place where you can free Notion support?

As a small team of consultants, we are about to launch a LinkedIn group to help you understand Notion and use it more efficiently for your business. To achieve this, we'll provide support through group posts, 1:1 calls, webinars, and live Q&A sessions.

Each week, we'll offer a limited amount of 1:1 sessions to our members for free to make minor adjustments in their Notion workspaces. As you can guess, early adopters will have a higher chance of getting 1:1 support from us, and you can be one!

Sounds amazing, right? Join for free here.

That's all from me for today, Reader!

Happy Monday Reader! If you missed my latest emails, here's a quick update. Every Monday throughout this year, I'll be sharing curated content that inspires me, along with a suggestion for you to try that week —hoping you find at least one thing you love in each issue. Before moving on, I want to thank you all who replied to last week's newsletter, shared their experience with setbacks, and let me know that my perspective was helpful. We don't get likes or comments on emails, so it's almost...

Happy new year, Reader! After two weeks of holiday, I'm back with a brand new email series. Hi Reader, As we approach the end of the year, I wanted to share some changes coming to your inbox in 2025. New Branding In 2025, I’ll be revealing my new brand, Spark Digital, which goes by @heySparkZone on socials (already active on YouTube). While you’ll notice some visual updates in the emails, our communication channel remains the same (I decided to stick with my current email), so you will be receiving my emails as usual.
