Happy Monday 2025-04: Beyond Boundaries

What is the purpose of art?
How did a cross-genre song charm Europe?
How far would you go to find your place in the universe?
What would you do if fear wasn't holding you back?

Curious?

For your mind

"The photo becomes art when it provokes a reaction in us, whether interest, curiosity, or attention." —Oliviero Toscani (Photographer)

You probably know Toscani for his work with Benetton. His creations are easy on the eye but not so easy on narrow minds. With high-contrast images carrying a heavy weight of subtext, he wanted to challenge the norms of society, open minds to possibilities, and create pictures of the ideal world he deeply desired.

Toscani died 2 weeks ago, but his ideas will continue to inspire me.

For your ears

Winner of Eurovision 2024, The Code by Nemo is one of those songs that I instantly clicked with. It's an expressive song that neatly combines pop, rap, and operatic vocals. But Nemo's performance and the choreography on the spinning platform were the real deal for me.

Oh, also... let's not forget, they didn't only break the code (as said in the lyrics) but also the trophy that night.

For your eyes

Choose one for your next coffee break: discover the depths of the ocean, wrap your head around the universe, or try spending Bill Gates' money.

Time to push some boundaries

This week, challenge yourself to do something that excites you and maybe scares you a little bit too —in a good way.

For example:

  • Present an idea you've been holding back at work
  • Learn something completely outside your field
  • Start that creative project you've been putting off
  • Reach out to someone you admire

Recognise how pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone changed your perspective. What surprised you? What did you learn about yourself?

And as always, feel free to share it with me.

Happy Monday, Reader
